Real Vikings: Viking Women
Synopsis:
“Viking Women” explores roles that women played within Viking culture. A warrior grave from the 10th century found near the Viking town of Birka offers some convincing evidence that shield maidens did exist. Not only could women in Viking society be warriors, but they also held important roles as the Lady of the Hall, as sorceresses and as weavers of the all-important ship sails.
